Sam Corey, III
President

​​hails from Pennsylvania and is a fourth generation insurance professional. He joined The Brokerage Resource in 2003 to work side by side with his father, heading up Marketing and Sales for Major Medical and Group Health/Ancillary products. His role today is President  with a primary focus on Medicare Supplement, but also expanding product lines and growing the life and annuity side of the business. Father of two, an avid fisherman and golfer, Sam can be found on the golf course with his compadres, when not spending time with his wife or in the office.

Sam Corey, Jr.
Founder/OG

​​hails from Pennsylvania and has worked full-time in insurance since graduating from the University of Georgia with an Insurance degree. He began his career as a commissioned life insurance agent, then Home Office representative, including Senior Vice President of Marketing and Board of Directors member. Active in the industry, he is a past President of the Triangle Association of Life Underwriters and past President of the National Brokerage Agency. He also served on the General Agency Advisory Council of American National of Texas, Mutual of Omaha and United World insurance companies. Sam can be found on the golf course with his wife when not in the office, and enjoys traveling and cooking. His Atlantic Beach pie is one of his signature dishes.

Robiny Rhea
V.P. Administration

​hails from New England and graduated from The Principia College in St. Louis, MO with a B.S. in Business. She began her insurance career in 1991 in the Northeast and moved to North Carolina in 1997 when she joined The Brokerage Resource. With 20 years under her belt, she knows the answer to just about any question we throw at her. Mom of two and active in her church, she’s also a huge animal lover who spends her free time helping find forever homes for dachshunds in need. Robiny is licensed to sell all types of insurance products, but her role is really that of Vice President of Administration. She spends her day handling licensing, commissions and technical questions for our agents.

Carolyn Portanova
Director of Marketing

​​hails from New York with a B.A. in French from Manhattanville College. Active mom of two, she spends her free time at the beach or in the mountains with her kids, cooking and honing her photography skills. Carolyn’s former life consisted of a role with Apple, Inc. where she managed a team of sales agents for the Apple online store. Marketing and branding are what she brings to The Brokerage Resource, having joined the team in October of 2012. As Director of Marketing, she overseas all marketing and communications for the agency, including maintaining the company websites she designed and built.
Additionally, she works closely with the firm's independent insurance agents to teach them how to promote their own brands and in turn, grow their businesses.

Cassandra Bennett
Medicare & Senior Solutions Sales Manager

​​hails from New Jersey.  She was a Golf pro in another life, and continues to maintain her PGA status.  Cassandra graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and  brings a breath of fresh air into the office.  She is licensed to sell Medicare Supplement, Long-term Care, Final Expense, DI, Critical Illness and Life insurance. Cassandra has been with us since June of 2014. She has a knack for conversing and bringing out the best in her producers. She spends any amount of time needed to assist her agents, and has the patience of a saint. Cassandra is known for inviting her agents into the office to meet them face-to-face and bringing human interaction into her relationships. She takes the necessary time to explain complicated topics and processes to her agents, ensuring they understand the Medicare Supplement marketplace.

Mark Evan
Sales Director Life, Long-term Care & Health Products

hails from Connecticut but has lived in the triangle area since 1995. His role is to assist agents with marketing Life insurance and Long-term care products. He has been in the industry industry since 2009, working with companies such as Combined Insurance, Sterling Health Plans and Allstate. Mark re-joined the team in July of 2017.  When not in the office he enjoys spending time with his wife MJ. ​

Derick Monaco
Medicare & Senior Solutions Sales Manager

hails from Pennsylvania and was a golf professional for 17 years. He graduated from Kutztown University in 2001 with a degree in Business Administration. He draws on his past customer service experience to exceed all expectations of his agents. His focus is on Medicare products, and assisting his agents with marketing them to their clients. He enjoys many recreational activities and spending time with his wife Ashley and daughter Ella, when not in the office.
